Jonathan Maxwell

Jonathan is the Founder and CEO of Sustainable Development Capital LLP (SDCL). He has 28 years’ experience in international finance, infrastructure and private equity.

Established in London in 2007, SDCL specialises in developing and investing in efficient and decentralised generation of energy (“EDGE”) infrastructure projects across the UK, Europe, North America and Asia. SDCL has completed over 50 investments in 10 countries, involving more than 50,000 properties and $2.5bn in capital.

Jonathan was recently recognised by the Independent Climate 100 list as one of the world’s leading environmentalists. In 2023, his book The Edge: How Competition for Resources is Pushing the World, and Its Climate, to the Brink – and What We Can Do About It was published by John Murray Press (Hachette Book Group). He holds a degree in Modern History from Oxford University.
