Raquel has worked for more than 26 years in political affairs, stakeholder management, corporate communication, and brand management.
Currently, Raquel oversees the European Affairs division at EDP´s Group. Prior to this, Raquel established synergies through the European Institutions while working as the team leader for Corporate Affairs at Eurelectric-Brussels for four years. Before moving to Brussels, Raquel Mendes worked for EDP Renewables as the Communication and Stakeholder Director, based in Madrid, where she was responsible for institutional and government contacts in more than 20 countries for offshore wind, wind energy, and sustainability. She also actively took part in the EDPR IPO process.
She has a solid understanding of both the corporate and government contexts, as well as a comprehensive overview of numerous areas within the Energy industry as a result of her previous jobs. Throughout her career, she has also maintained a strong connection to the academic world by teaching MSc level courses on corporate diplomacy at ISCSP - Lisbon and renewable energy to students at Universidad Europea de Madrid.
