IBERIA: REVIEW OF THE SPANISH TENDER, A LOOK INTO PROSPECTS FOR PORTUGUESE WIND POWER AND A DASH OF GREEN HYDROGEN
Spain’s delayed 3GW renewables tender resulted in winning bids of between €20/MWh and €28.89/MWh in a CfD model that saw the lowest prices yet for onshore wind in Europe. This follows a a pledge in the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) to increase Spain’s installed onshore wind energy capacity by 22 GW from 28 GW to 50 GW by 2030 and annual auctions of 1.5GW. This session will explore the auction results and the impact that it has for neighbouring Portugal in a peninsula where both countries are vying to be a home for solar, wind and green hydrogen.
01 October 2021 10:00 – 11:30 CET (09:00 – 10:30 GMT)
FRANCE: UNPACKING THE 2021 TENDERS
The seventh wind tender in France awarded 519.7 MW in February at an average price of €59,5/MWh with around 60% of the capacity awarded to two projects. With a national energy plan targeting 35 GW of onshore with by 2028 – up from today’s 17 GW a further and final round will take place in April 2021 for 925MW. This session will explore the results of both tenders, hosting winners and investors to discuss the prospects for French onshore wind.

POLAND A 10 GW OFFSHORE OPPORTUNITY
Poland has recently approved the offshore wind act which has seen mega players like Equinor seek approval for new projects under the CfD scheme which should see 5.9GW of new deployment by 2030 and a further 5GW up for public auction. Questions still remain such as a ceiling for prices and this workshop will review the prospects for the Polish market.

THE NETHERLANDS
The Netherlands was the top country in Europe for new wind capacity according to WindEurope statistics, boosted by the Borssele 1-4 wind farm zones which resulted in a net addition of 1.98GW in the country. This session will look at what’s next for Dutch wind and how the market will develop.

DENMARK: DELIVERING ON AN AMBITIOUS OFFSHORE WIND PLAN
With an energy mix which is 48% wind and a highly ambitious energy policy (passed with a majority through the Danish parliament) which targets a 70% reduction in emissions by 2030 and the creation of energy islands, Denmark represents a huge opportunity for international investors. This session will investigate.

UNITED KINGDOM: WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO REACH 40 GIGAWATTS BY 2030?
Offshore wind in every home by 2030 was the ambition expressed by the UK government recently as it boosted the target from 30 GW to 40 GW and a floating offshore wind target of 1 GW by 2030. The government will also double capacity in the next CfD auction which opens later this year. As part of this plan, there will be £160 million on offer to upgrade ports with Teeside and Humber identified as recipients. The government is aiming for a 10-point plan with more to be announced later in 2021.
This dialogue is an opportunity to discuss the recent call for evidence on enabling a high renewable, net zero electricity system issued by the UK Government and will look into:
